In this podcast episode, Oliver Winter from the Produktwerkern looks at the topic of leadership skills for product people together with Simonetta Batteiger. She works as a consultant, trainer and certified coach for product managers and executives. She also focuses on inclusive leadership because, in her opinion, successful product work is leadership work.

At the beginning of the conversation, Batteiger shares her perspective on why leadership is so important for product owners. Therefore, it is of course important to clarify what leadership actually is and how it fits in with the responsibility as a product person.
Three essential leadership skills in detail
Simonetta Batteiger recently shared three essential skills in a talk at the Product Owner Days. In this podcast episode with Oliver Winter, the two go into the individual aspects in more detail.
Firstly, it is essential that the direction in which the product is to be developed is clear and understood by everyone involved. Product managers are primarily responsible for ensuring that a vision, a strategy and a product roadmap exist and that these are communicated. Secondly, every manager can develop coaching habits that can help when working with other people. And thirdly, you always help shape the team with which you develop the product up to a certain point. Because with this responsibility you will never be able to act alone and be successful alone.
