Apple Kicks Off 2024 with Launch of MacBook Air M3
The year 2024 has officially begun for Apple with the launch of the MacBook Air M3, signaling the start of an exciting new chapter in the world of Mac computers.
The new MacBook Air M3 comes in 13- and 15-inch sizes and boasts higher performance than its predecessor, offering an optimized user experience for activities involving generative artificial intelligence.
As Apple’s catalog is expected to receive more updates throughout the year, more Macs equipped with the M3 processor and its variants are on the horizon. Following the surprise Halloween event where the MacBook Pro received the M3 upgrade in November, the question now arises: what will be the next Macs to debut in 2024?
Mac Mini:
After the introduction of the Mac Mini with M2 and M2 Pro in January 2023, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that a new model of this compact desktop won’t be seen until the end of 2024. It’s speculated that the next Mac Mini, featuring the M4 chip, could be unveiled in 2025.
Mac Studio:
The Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra and M2 Max chips made its debut in June last year. Reports indicate that the next generation will only be offered with the Ultra and Max versions of the M3 chip, with an update expected in mid-2024 featuring TMSC’s N3E technology.
Mac Pro:
The current Mac Pro, updated in June 2023 alongside the Mac Studio, is only available in the configuration with M2 Ultra. Gurman suggests that the next generation of this powerful device will be presented by Apple in mid-2024, utilizing exclusively Ultra series processors.
2024 is shaping up to be a year full of updates in Apple’s Mac lineup, with the introduction of the M3 chip and its variants across multiple models, providing users with a significant boost in performance and functionality. It will be interesting to see how these new offerings fit into Apple’s extensive ecosystem.
