Bethesda Looking to Decrease Wait Times for Upcoming Games as Fans Anticipate
Despite the lukewarm reception to Starfield, Bethesda fans are still eagerly awaiting the releases of The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5. However, with the long development cycles of past games, some fans are starting to grow impatient.
In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Bethesda’s Todd Howard acknowledged the lengthy waits for their games and expressed a desire to decrease the wait times for future releases. “Our games do take a long time, so I think one of the things we’re focused on here is obviously making sure they’re of the highest quality, but also finding ways to increase production,” Howard said. “Because we didn’t want to wait that long either, right? That was never our plan, but we wanted to make sure we got it right.”
With the company considering larger scopes for their RPGs, it’s understandable why the development times have grown exponentially. For example, there were four years between Skyrim and Fallout 4, and a whopping eight years between Fallout 4 and Starfield. Fans are hopeful that Bethesda will find ways to streamline their development process and deliver highly anticipated titles in a more timely manner.
