Anyone looking for mobile phone contracts in the Telekom network usually has to pay a lot of money for comparatively little data volume. Sometimes Freenet offers worthwhile special promotions with generous gigabytes on top of the contract.
You currently get 24 GB for around 10 Euro a month. Comparable offers here cost at least 20 euros. We show what the tariff offers and what you should pay attention to.
25 GB LTE data volume per month
The tariff is called āGreen LTE 25 GBā. And as the name suggests, it offers 25 GB of data volume in the Telekom network. The maximum download speed is 25 MBit/s. Thatās enough for streaming etc., but itās still no longer up to date. Most providers, including Congstar , sell their contracts with 50 MBit/s and some even with 100 MBit/s in the LTE network.
Freenet itself sometimes sells better offers. In November 2023, new customers received around 60 GB for 14.99 euros with 50 MBit/s. However, such an offer cannot be expected again until November 2024 at the earliest ā and that is not guaranteed. In any case: The current tariff with 25 GB for 10 euros is currently the best deal in the Telekom network.
Flat rates for telephony & SMS
In addition to the data volume, the tariff includes flat rates for telephony and SMS. This means you can make calls and write text messages to all German networks. The latter in particular is becoming increasingly rare. Various providers are increasingly only offering contracts with a telephony flat rate; but without SMS.
EU-Roaming, eSIM & WLAN-Calls
EU roaming has been mandatory since 2017. You can also surf, make phone calls and send text messages in other EU countries with the current Freenet tariff. The tariff is also VoLTE and WLAN call capable and also supports eSIM. It is possible to port your phone number.
Connection price for 0 instead of 40 euros
Freenet charges a one-time fee of 39.99 euros for the connection when the contract is signed. You can save yourself the fee if you give Freenet advertising permission.
Duration
The tariff has a term of 24 months. During this period, the price remains stable at 9.99 euros per month. From the 25th month the price jumps to 36.99 euros. You should cancel in advance to avoid an unnecessary price increase.
Comparable offers
If you are looking for a cell phone contract with a 24-month term, you can currently find 27 GB (max. 50 MBit/s) in the Vodafone network 9,99 Euro.
Another Freenet offer is currently one of the best tariffs that can be canceled on a monthly basis. In the O2 network there is 70 GB (max. 225 MBit/s) with LTE including flat rates for monthly 19,99 Euro. There is also a starting credit of 20 euros.
Congstar offers the most data volume in the Telekom network. Here you get 30 GB or for 22 euros 27 Euro 50GB. Both tariffs offer flat rates for SMS and telephony, up to 50 Mbit/s for downloads and 5 GB more data volume every year.
