Apple Watch Series 4 to No Longer Be Supported After Launch of watchOS 11
According to a report from iPhoneSoft, Apple Watch Series 4, released in 2018, will no longer be supported after Apple launches watchOS 11 later this year. This means that users with the Series 4 will not be able to upgrade to the latest version of the system.
The last time an Apple Watch model was eliminated from system updates was when watchOS 9 was launched in 2022, and the Apple Watch Series 3 stopped receiving updates after 5 years of support. However, when watchOS 10 was released last year, all Apple Watch models that originally supported watchOS 9 were able to be upgraded.
The upcoming watchOS 11 is expected to support Apple Watch Series 5, Series 6, Series 7, Series 8, Series 9, SE first generation, SE second generation, Ultra, and Ultra 2. The Apple Watch Series 4, which introduced a major design update, larger screen size, increased storage capacity, fall detection, and electrocardiogram functions, will not be included in the list of supported devices.
Apple is anticipated to preview watchOS 11 at WWDC on June 10, with the system upgrade likely to be officially released in the fall. Stay tuned for further updates on the latest developments in the world of wearable technology.
