Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – A number of new allegations and facts emerged in the trial of a corruption case involving former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo or SYL. In a series of trials held at the Jakarta Corruption Court, a number of witnesses admitted that their former boss often used the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget for personal needs.

A number of witnesses said that the Ministry of Agriculture spent budgets for personal events, such as circumcisions and birthdays of SYL’s grandchildren, as well as skincare. Another witness said that the Ministry of Agriculture issued a budget to pay the installments for Alphard’s car.

During the trial, the former Head of the Household Subdivision of the Ministry of Agriculture’s General and Procurement Bureau, Isnar Widodo, revealed that the Ministry of Agriculture’s General Bureau always paid monthly money to the wife of former SYL, Ayun Sri Harahap.

2. Credit Card Bills

Then, in Isnar’s investigation report (BAP) number 43 which was read by the KPK prosecutor during the trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, quoted on Thursday (25/4/2024), it was revealed that SYL often charged credit card payments to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The BAP also revealed that Isnar was removed from his position because he did not comply with SYL’s credit card bill payment request of IDR 215 million.

3. Grandson’s birthday

Apart from his wife’s snacks and credit cards, Isnar revealed that there was a request for reimbursement or return for the costs of SYL’s grandson’s birthday event.

This grandson is the son of Kemal Redindo Syahrul Putra. However, Isnar did not reveal how much money was requested from the Ministry of Agriculture. He said the request was again conveyed through Panji Hartanto.

4. Skincare

Former Sub-Coordinator for Maintenance of the General Bureau and Procurement of the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), Gempur Aditya, who was also presented as a witness in the trial of the alleged extortion and gratification case with the defendant former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL).

Gempur said SYL also used the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget to pay for skincare for its children and grandchildren.

“Panji’s request is usually something like skincare treatment, Sir, that skincare treatment, which was conveyed by Mr. Musyafak,” said Gempur.

5. Umrah

In the Public Prosecutor’s (JPU) presentation, quoted from CNN and Detikcom, SYL was also suspected of committing extortion. The money from the extortion was used to perform the Umrah at a cost of IDR 1.87 billion.

Meanwhile, the source of the money is the Directorate General of Agricultural Infrastructure and Facilities (Ditjen PSP): IDR 1,000,000,000 in 2022; Directorate General of PKH: IDR 300,000,000 in 2022 and IDR 300,000,000 in 2023; Directorate General of Plantations: IDR 159,500,000 in 2023; and BPPSDMP: IDR 112,150,000 in 2022

6. Deposit to Nasdem

The NasDem Party, which is SYL’s political vehicle, said the KPK prosecutor also received IDR 40,123,500. This money comes from the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Agriculture.

7. Airplane Charter

SYL is also known to have paid for an airplane charter worth IDR 3,034,591,120 which came from the Directorate General of Infrastructure and Facilities (PSP), Directorate General of PKH, Directorate General of Plantations, Directorate General of Horticulture, Directorate General of Food Crops, Agricultural Extension and Human Resource Development Agency, Food Security Agency, and Barantan .

8. Sacrificial money

The prosecutor added that SYL also used IDR 16,683,448,302 for religious events, including money for sacrifices. The money was allegedly the result of extortion from the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (PKH), Directorate General of Plantations, Directorate General of Horticulture, Directorate General of Food Crops, Balitbangtan, Agricultural Extension and Human Resource Development Agency, Food Security Agency, and Barantan.

Meanwhile, quoted from Detikcom, the source of the sacrificial money from the Directorate General of PSP: IDR 360,000,000 in 2023; Directorate General of Plantations: IDR 75,000,000 in 2022; Directorate General of Food Crops: IDR 250,000,000 in 2022; Balitbangtan: IDR 825,000,000 in 2020; BPPSDMP: IDR 87,500,000 in 2022; and Food Security Agency: IDR 25,000,000 in 2020, IDR 32,000,000 in 2021.

9. Sawer Singer

The allegation that SYL paid the singer using Ministry of Agriculture money was revealed when the KPK prosecutor presented a witness, former Ministry of Agriculture household substance coordinator Arief Sopian. Arief said SYL paid the ‘singers’ using the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget, which reached IDR 50-100 million. The singer who was invited to one of these events was Nayunda Nabila.

10. Invitation money

During the trial, former Head of the General and Procurement Bureau at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), Akhmad Musyafak, said that SYL used the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget for weddings. When SYL came to an invitational event, he said, the ‘money’ for the invitation was taken from the Ministry of Agriculture’s budget.

“Demand, so for example this need, sir, a need, for example like an invitation, sir,” said Musyafak, quoted from detik.com.

Musyafak said the budget was used for gift giving when SYL went to an engagement. According to him, SYL often asks to prepare gold gifts every time he attends an event, the amount of which reaches IDR 8 million.

11. Alphard Installment

When he was a witness, former Head of Procurement Subdivision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Abdul Hafidh, said that the Ministry of Agriculture also paid installments of IDR 43 million per month for the Alphard SYL car.

Hafidh said that the Alphard was apparently used by SYL’s son, Kemal Redindo. “But there was a request from Brother Panji, who you know is the Minister’s personal aide. Asking you for a car or car money?” asked the chairman of the panel of judges, Rianto Adam Pontoh, during the trial.
