A good wage settlement in the industry

The collective union has secured purchasing power for broad groups of employees and ensured a good starting point for the rest of the settlements.

NOK seven in general allowance and NOK 3.50 in low wage allowance, that is the result after this year’s negotiations in the industry. In total, the limit after this year’s settlement is estimated at 5.2 per cent. With an estimated price increase of 4.1 per cent this year, everything is set to increase purchasing power for large groups this year.

– The settlement in the industry is a good settlement. The union has ensured increased purchasing power for broad groups and helps to make the finances a little easier for many of our members, says LO leader Peggy Hessen Følsvik.

After years of high inflation and an increasingly tough interest rate, increased wages were the most important thing for our members. With good times in large parts of the business world, there was therefore room for a good wage settlement. That was the core when LO adopted the framework for the wage settlement 2024 during the representative board meeting in Oslo.

– The tariff settlement is not over when the industry is finished. Now unions in all parts of working life must negotiate with their counterparts, centrally and locally. The joint union has provided a good starting point for the collective agreements that follow, adds the LO leader.

One of the Federation’s main demands in the settlement is a continuing and continuing education reform for skilled workers. The parties have agreed on that, and the government will actively contribute to putting such a reform in place.
