LONDON. If the fresh humiliation of Liverpool were not enough, even Stonehenge could risk a resounding downgrade by UNESCO and lose the status of “World Heritage Site”. The problem is always the same: the interventions and projects in the area that according to the UN agency could deface the beauty and cultural relevance of the site. Regarding the extraordinary “stone circle” in English Wiltshire, UNESCO has already delivered the message to the ministers of the Johnson government: if you keep it up, Stonehenge will also end up on the risk list.
