Account compulsory is not well received

Players of Helldivers 2 on Steam must now connect their account to the Playstation Network. Users express their displeasure about this in the reviews.

The co-op shooter Helldivers 2 from Arrowhead Game Studios has been captivating players since its release in February. At that time, the title suffered from connection problems and limited servers. According to the developers, these difficulties were also the reason why players on Steam have not yet had to connect their account to the Playstation Network. However, this transition period is now expiring and users must link their accounts. This is causing annoyance for some Steam users.

Heavy review bombing for Helldivers 2: Over 50,000 negative Steam reviews – this is how Arrowhead reacts

Players don’t want to connect accounts

As Arrowhead states in a new post on Steam, account linking will play a crucial role in protecting Helldivers. It is intended to be the most important means of protecting users from griefing and abuse. This enables the developers to ban players who do not follow the rules. Blocked users should also be given the opportunity to object to the measures.

Starting May 6th, new Helldivers 2 players will need to link their Steam account to a Playstation Network account. Existing players on Steam must log in starting May 30th and link their accounts by June 4th. Arrowhead says it understands this is an inconvenience. However, this step should help build a community that you can be proud of.

According to recent reviews, the account requirement is not going down well with some Steam players. “I don’t want to link a third-party account and I wasn’t informed that this change would be made when I purchased the game,” one user wrote. “Forced linking the game to a PS account months after release, no thanks,” follows another review. “We are now forced to connect to the PSN network, which gets hacked every 2 years, nice,” writes the next player. “The product page never mentions that having a PSN account is mandatory. None of the linked PSN documents mention that a PSN account is required to access the game,” one user writes in their review Helldivers 2. “This may seem insignificant, but I can’t get a PSN account, which means the company is locking me out of the product I legitimately bought on a whim. That’s shabby.”
