Four days after the painful elimination in the Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich beat Wolfsburg 2-0 this Sunday (12), in the 33rd and penultimate round of the German Championship.
The game’s goals came in the first half from Lovro Zvonarek (4′), who scored for the first time in a Bayern shirt, and Leon Goretzka (13′).
With the victory, the Bavarian team will reach the final round in second place, two points ahead of Stuttgart (3rd), while the title has been in the hands of Bayer Leverkusen since mid-April.
Bayern, who played their last game of the season at the Allianz Arena, must guarantee runners-up with at least a draw against Hoffenheim, as Stuttgart would need to clear a 17-goal difference in their clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
If Leverkusen also wins the German Cup, the Bundesliga runners-up will compete in the Super Cup in August against coach Xabi Alonso’s team.
Of the Bayern players who started against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu, only four started the match against Wolfsburg: Manuel Neuer, Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Aleksandar Pavlovic.
In the other already finished game this Sunday, Hoffenheim (7th) overpowered the last placed and already relegated Darmstadt with a 6-0 rout.
