- Marco Schwarz tore his cruciate ligament in December and had to bury his dream of winning the big crystal ball early.
- Marco Odermatt’s competitor wants to attack again next winter.
- The Austrian currently spends a lot of time in the gym and on his bike. If everything continues to go well, he will start skiing in August.
Marco Schwarz fought a close duel with Marco Odermatt in the fight for the overall World Cup last winter – until his fateful fall on December 28th in Bormio. The 28-year-old was transported away by helicopter and was later diagnosed with a bitter diagnosis: a torn cruciate ligament and medial meniscus as well as cartilage damage in his right knee. The season is over and so is the dream of triumphing in the overall World Cup.
Just a few days earlier, the all-rounder had taken the lead in the overall World Cup, fueling hope in our neighboring country that an Austrian could win the big crystal ball for the first time since Marcel Hirscher’s last trick in 2019.
Now Marco “Blacky” Schwarz is contacting his fans via Instagram and giving a health update: “I’m currently spending a lot of time in the gym and on the bike.” The statements are supported with training images. The best news comes at the end of the clip, where he reveals his concrete comeback plan: “If everything goes well, I will start skiing again in August.”
Overall World Cup winner Marco Odermatt is already back in training and is working up a sweat under the guidance of his new Kondi trainer.
