Alec Baldwin apparently wants celebrities to help him in the “Rust” trial. Among other things, Mickey Rourke is supposed to testify on his behalf.

Alec Baldwin’s (65) lawyers are taking unusual approaches in the upcoming “Rust” trial: The actor and producer’s lawyers are currently trying to call various stars to the witness stand after the death of camerawoman Halyna Hutchins on the set of his western. As the gossip portal “TMZ” reportsthe actor’s defense team is currently putting together a list of celebrities who will testify on behalf of the Hollywood star in court.

Alec Baldwin is said to be supported by numerous celebrities

These are said to include the actresses and actors Debra Messing (55), Mickey Rourke (71), DJ Qualls (45) and Frances Fisher (71). The latter also starred in the western “Rust” by Alec Baldwin himself. Some of the stars mentioned are said to have already confirmed their commitment to Baldwin and would support the 65-year-old in court, the article continues.

Mickey Rourke is “there for him”

Among other things, Rourke would be available for his colleague, but he obviously hasn’t been asked personally yet. The Hollywood legend spoke out via TMZ and told the site: “Whatever Alec needs, I will be there for him 100 percent. The Armorer is completely responsible for every weapon that is given to an actor.”

Baldwin is not to blame for this, especially since he had no experience with weapons on a film set. So far, however, no one from Baldwin’s team has contacted him. Rourke made his comments via Instagram at the end of January 2023 on the case and said back then that in his opinion Baldwin bore no responsibility for Hutchins’ death.

More than two years ago, 42-year-old Hutchins was killed during a rehearsal on the film set of “Rust.” Baldwin was handling a gun in front of her, which – according to his account – fired a shot without his intervention. The prop revolver, which was mistakenly loaded with live ammunition, was handed to him by the weapons master on set directly before the scene. In March, employee Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 26, was found guilty. She faces several years in prison. The trial against Baldwin, who also has to stand trial, begins in July.
