With the debut of the trailer for Alien: Romulusit seems that the intention of this new production is to bring the franchise back to its horror roots, like the first legendary chapter of Ridley Scott.
This time he is directing Fede Alvarezalready behind the camera of the remake of Homewhile Scott serves as executive producer. Alien: Romulus is technically an “interquel”, it will be a standalone film set between the events of the first Alien and the next Aliens – Final Clash. The release is set for August 14, 2024.
This horror-thriller brings the hugely successful franchise back to its roots Alien: While scavenging in the depths of an abandoned space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe.
Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie’s Murder is Easy), Archie Renaux (Darkness and bones), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (After sun) e Aileen Wu. Alien: Romulus is directed by Fede Alvarez (La casa, Man in the Dark) from a screenplay written by Alvarez himself together with his frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (The man in the dark – Man in the Dark), based on the characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett.
Having therefore abandoned the fantasy-philosophical overtones of Scott’s latest chapters, it remains to be seen whether this “return to the origins” will satisfy fans of the saga. In the meantime, on these pages you can find the reviews of Alien: Covenant e Aliens – Final Clash.
