Amy Schumer hits back at the criticism

Comedian Amy Schumer (42) has been behind a number of popular films, including “Trainwreck” and “I Feel Pretty”. In recent years, she has devoted more time to her family, as her husband Chris Fischer (44) and son Gene (4).

Now, however, she is current with the new season of the series “Life and Beth”, and is therefore on a promotion tour. Recently, she has visited various talk shows in the US, but it is not what Schumer is talking about that has gained attention.

“Warning”: – Will come and get you

That’s what her face has gotten.

Several people think that she looks very swollen in the face, and that she is not at all like herself, write Entertainment Online.

Now she hits back at the criticism on Instagram, and explains why her face looks different than before.

“Thanks for everyone’s input on my face! I appreciate the feedback and discussion about my appearance, as do all the other women going through it for nearly 20 years. And you are right; my face is more swollen than usual right now,” she writes on Instagram.

She explains that the reason for that is that she has endometriosis.

“I have an autoimmune disease and hormonal problems these days, but I’m fine.”

Endometriosis

This is a condition where tissue of a similar type to the lining of the uterus (endometrium) grows outside the uterine cavity.

Between six and ten percent of women have symptomatic endometriosis.

The most common symptoms are menstrual pain, pain during intercourse, pain in the bowel or urethra, painful urination and irregular menstruation.

The condition can be treated with ibuprofen, hormonal treatment (hormonal contraception), hormone-stopping treatment or surgery.

Furthermore, the comedian explains that historically more research has been done on men’s bodies than women’s bodies, and that women’s health has not been on the agenda.

Received death threats

“I believe that a woman needs no apology for her appearance, and owes no explanation. I want to use the opportunity to promote loving yourself and accepting the skin you’re in. Some days I feel confident and good as hell, while other days I want a bag over my head,” she writes.

– Most difficult week of my life

In conclusion, she is clear that she feels strong and beautiful – despite the comments on her appearance.
