(Keystone-ATS) “Anatomy of a Fall” won the César for best film on Friday. Justine Triet’s feature film dominated the ceremony with five other trophies, including best director. The director dedicated her César to all women, including “those who have been hurt”.
These trophies give additional momentum to the film “Anatomy of a Fall”, already Palme d’Or in May 2023 in Cannes, for the Oscars ceremony on March 10.
In addition to the César for best film, Justine Triet won the one for best direction on Friday. “Being the second woman in history to receive the César” after Tonie Marshall in 2000, “it’s a bit scary and brilliant at the same time. This gives hope for the future,” declared the 45-year-old filmmaker.
Director of four films which are portraits of women, she had already made history at the Cannes festival by becoming the third director in history to win the Palme d’Or in May.
“Anatomy of a Fall” won three other prizes, those for supporting role for Swann Arlaud, for screenplay and for editing.
