Football mourns one of its heroes. Andreas Brehme died suddenly at the age of 63. The former international died of a heart attack on the night of Monday to Tuesday.
In 1990, the defender gave Germany the world champion title with his successful penalty in the final against Diego Maradona’s Argentina.
With Brehme, a former player for, among others, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, German football has lost a second world champion in a short time. At the beginning of January, Franz Beckenbauer passed away at the age of 78. He won the world title in 1974 as a player and as a coach in 1990.
