The event organized by Confindustria “Industry, transport, logistics and infrastructure: together for the country’s competitiveness” took place yesterday, during which an analysis document and proposals for the development of an efficient, sustainable and functional to the economic growth of the country.

The document is the result of intense work started in recent months within Confindustria with the aim of promoting greater dialogue between industrial clients and suppliers of transport and logistics services and, therefore, a common long-term vision on public policies for growth, which leads companies along the path of innovation of operational processes, reduction of the environmental impacts of the activities carried out, presence and leadership on international markets.

ANITA has contributed significantly to this work, convinced of the need to overcome the still widespread perception among the industry that sees goods transport and logistics activities only as a cost to be reduced and not as a precious and indispensable pool of services which generates value for the entire supply chain.

The institutions intervened with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini; the member of the European Parliament Massimiliano Salini; the President of the Transport Commission of the Chamber of Deputies Salvatore Deidda. Numerous testimonies also arrived from the associative world of Confindustria and from important economic operators in industry, transport, logistics and infrastructure.

For ANITA, President Riccardo Morelli spoke, highlighting the strategic nature of the sector for the industry, its significant growth prospects, the continuous evolution of company business models in relation to the environmental and technological transition. He then addressed the issue of infrastructure and transnational connections, which requires particular attention especially in relation to the Alpine crossings. On digitalisation he underlined that there is still a lot of work to be done and speaking of the shortage of drivers he recalled the need to create dedicated paths within the Technical Institutes. Finally, he renewed ANITA’s commitment to building an increasingly structured dialogue with the industry, functional to establishing a shared development vision.

At the round table dedicated to economic operators, Thomas Baumgartner spoke as President of FERCAM Spa, describing the critical issues that the company experiences with particular reference to the crossing of Alpine passes, especially along the Brenner axis, to national traffic bans of heavy vehicles, to waiting times at large-scale retail trade. He also drew attention to the opportunities that would arise from the use of EMS in our country, also in relation to the promotion of intermodal transport.
