Asnawi Mangkualam Officially Joins Thai Club Port FC

Jakarta

Asnawi Mangkualam Bahar officially joined the highest caste club Thai League, Port FC. He docked at Port FC after being released by Jeonnam Dragon.

Asnawi is certain to continue his career in Thailand with Port FC. The Thai League 1 club announced that they had recruited Asnawi via their social media account.

“Port FC has reached an important agreement on the last day of the transfer window. We announce that we have recruited Asnawi, right back and captain of the Indonesian national team. Asnawai will join in the second round of the 2023/2024 Thai League. He will fill the quota slot for ASEAN foreign players,” read statement on Port’s Instagram account.

The agreement occurred when Asnawi was defending the Indonesian National Team in the 2023 Asian Cup, which had just ensured qualification for the last 16. He will immediately join Port after his duty to defend Indonesia in the 2023 Asian Cup is complete.

The captain of the Indonesian national team moved to Port FC on a free transfer after being released by the second caste team in the South Korean League, Jeonnam Dragon. Asnawi previously spent three years playing in South Korea.

He played for Jeongnam for one year. Before playing for Jeongnam, the 24-year-old full-back played for Ansan Greeners in 2021-2023. Ansan became Asnawi’s first club to play abroad after leaving PSM Makassar.

It is certainly hoped that Asnawi will be an additional strength for Port, which is currently competing at the top of the Thai League. Port is in third place in the middle of the 2023/2024 Thai League 1 season with 29 points.
