The conference “Challenges and Opportunities: The Italian North-West in the European Transport and Logistics Ecosystem”, organized by ASTRA Cuneo and FIAP, placed the Transport and Logistics of the North-West of the country at the center of attention, together to the analysis of the entrepreneurial and infrastructural scenario of the large province of Cuneo.

The event, held on Saturday 6 April in Cherasco (CN), represented an important opportunity for the Associates of both organizations to understand the current reality of the sector and the ongoing relationship with FIAP, as well as for the Guests of Politics , institutions and experts to paint a complete picture of the situation.

The introductory interventions of the President of the Province of Cuneo, Luca Robaldo, and the Director of UnionTrasporti, Antonello Fontanili, highlighted the peculiarities and critical issues of the territory, especially in relation to its geographical position near the Alps. The subsequent interventions of the regional councilors, of the Vice President of the Regional Council and sector operators further enriched the discussion.

The remote contributions of the Minister of the Environment Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, the Regional Councilor for Transport Marco Gabusi, the Hon. Roberto Traversi and the phone call from the President of the Piedmont Region Alberto Cirio confirmed the attention to the sector and the territory, with particular reference to infrastructure.

In the subsequent round table, moderated by the journalist Morena Pivetti, other topics of interest for businesses were addressed, with interventions that highlighted the need for a change in models of governance, investments, information and training, as well as the challenges linked to bans on circulation and the infrastructural connection of the Cuneo area with French ports, including the Mercantour project.

This last aspect demonstrates the desire of the Cuneo area to develop international connections, in particular with France, confirming its international vocation.
