Atalanta, who had just confirmed that they would appear in the Europa League final, immediately played attacking from the start of the match. De Ketelaere also scored two goals in the span of two minutes, in the 18th and 20th minutes respectively.

Pellegrini, who stepped forward to become the executor, successfully beat Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi. Roma were increasingly eager to catch up in the remaining time, but their efforts were fruitless.
