Four dead and one missing are the toll of an avalanche that struck a group of hikers in Spiss, Tyrol in the early afternoon. Two Austrian helicopters and two others from neighboring Switzerland intervened on the spot. Research work continues on the person still buried. In Soelden, on the Rettenbach glacier, another avalanche overwhelmed five skiers during an off piste. All were rescued and transported to the clinics in Zams and Soelden, as well as in Murnau in Bavaria. Due to heavy snowfall in the last few days in Tyrol alone today 13 avalanches have been recorded so far.
