Authorities manage to control the forest fire that affected San Onofre, Sucre

According to Captain Edgar Cárdenas Pastrana, delegate of the department of Sucre, ground extinction operations, using manual tools, have managed to control 80% of the forest fire on the three work flanks, where more than 150 professionals fight tirelessly to extinguish the fire. .
Actions taken to combat the fire included air support. In this sense, the UNGRD National Crisis Room coordinated with the Colombian Air Force (FAC), the Colombian National Army and the Colombian National Police to provide assistance with personnel from the Disaster Assistance and Prevention Brigade.
Ground logistics capacity was also strengthened, playing a fundamental role in controlling the fire. The tireless efforts of 157 professionals on the ground were crucial to achieving our goal.
“This success in controlling the fire reflects the commitment and effectiveness of the authorities and disaster response teams. It is crucial to maintain collaboration and prevention to face future emergencies and protect our natural environment,” said Carlos Carrillo Arenas, director general of the UNGRD.

The UNGRD maintains constant monitoring of the situation and collaborates closely with the entities of the National Disaster Risk Management System (SNGRD) and the community. The objective is to protect the affected territory.
