The National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) will promote on March 8th, International Women’s Day, at 10am, the hybrid event “Aviation, feminine noun”, in the Agency’s auditorium and broadcast via official ANAC channel on Youtube.

In partnership with the University of Brasília (UnB) and the Association of Women Aviators of Brazil (AMAB), the event will feature debates on the main challenges faced by women when entering and advancing in careers in the airline sector. Also participating in the debate are the Brazilian Association of Airlines (Abear) and the company Boeing.

In addition to celebrating Women’s Day, the meeting is an opportunity to promote female representation in the sector. Research shows the low number of women in aeronautical careers, which reveals the need to understand the challenges they face when entering aviation and to create a favorable environment for increasing female representation in leadership positions in the sector.

Recently, ANAC entered into a partnership with the University of Brasília (UnB), through a Decentralized Execution Term (TED), to begin the research project “Women in Civil Aviation: studies for inclusive regulation in the sector”. The objective is to identify what prevents or hinders the greater participation of women in the Brazilian civil aviation market.

The theme is also part of ANAC’s Sustainability Policy, through the Wings for All program. The purpose of the program is to promote diversity, inclusion, training, aeronautical training and the participation of women in the aviation sector. One of the subprograms of Asas para Todos is “Women in Aviation”, which inaugurates a new phase of the Agency focused on female inclusion in the airline sector.
