Within 90 seconds of the emergency message from the container ship, the police managed to stop car traffic over the Baltimore bridge, which collapsed on Tuesday night.
Two people who died after the bridge collapse in the city of Baltimore in the USA have been pulled out of the water. A total of three people have now been confirmed dead after the accident.
Found at a depth of seven metres
Divers found the two men, who were 26 and 35 years old, in a pickup truck at a depth of about seven meters near the main span of the collapsed bridge, said Roland L. Butler of the Maryland State Police.
Eight people fell into the water when the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed. Two of them were quickly retrieved from the sea, but one died in hospital.
A police officer says he was on his way to the bridge to alert construction workers working on the brother. But he didn’t make it. The workers come from countries such as Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico, according to the Mexican consulate in Washington.
All of them are in their 30s and 40s, and all had families, says one of their colleagues.

A search operation for the dead was launched Wednesday morning local time, according to spokeswoman Elena Russo for the state police in Maryland.
A further two people were retrieved from the water after a short time, but one of them later died in hospital.
