The Barcelona newspaper Sport Newspaper writes that Martin Ødegaard’s manager at Arsenal must have informed those around him that he is “considering leaving Arsenal” this summer.
In England, however, rejects Sky Sports that the Spaniard plans to surrender. Also Daily Mirror claim that Arsenal are confident that the Spaniard is not going anywhere.
The conflicting messages come just two days after a small loss of manpower in Europe’s top clubs.
On Friday, Jürgen Klopp announced that he is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. On Saturday, Barcelona’s under-pressure coach Xavi said he will leave the Barcelona boss on June 30.
– There are not many people who are surprised that this news comes from a Barcelona-based newspaper less than 24 hours after Xavi released his secret, considers Petter Veland, expert on Spanish football.
The difference is that Klopp and Xavi have announced their departures even before an open microphone, which means that both Liverpool and Barcelona will be without a coach after the season.
While the background for the speculation surrounding a possible Arteta exit comes from the Spanish newspaper.
– A contagion or domino effect can quickly occur when a trainer chooses to give up. For all we know, there could be other coaches harboring the same thought, the same secret. Maybe Arteta thinks the ceiling has been reached with City and Guardiola and Liverpool as competitors, says Veland.
The Catalan newspaper also writes that there has been no contact between the 41-year-old and Barcelona, but that Barca president Joan Laporta is a great admirer of Arteta.
The Arsenal manager is Basque by origin, but belonged to Barcelona’s academy as a teenager. He did not get further than the B team as a player.
