Bayern star threatens to lose against Real

FC Bayern is looking forward to the Champions League clash against Real Madrid. Some stars are still ailing – one is even threatened with failure.

FC Bayern is threatened with the loss of a star defender before the Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday. Matthijs de Ligt was missing from the record champions’ final training session on Monday afternoon; the Dutchman’s appearance against the Madrilenians was already considered questionable.

De Ligt was substituted at half-time in Munich’s 2-1 league win against Eintracht Frankfurt. According to trainer Thomas Tuchel, the 24-year-old is suffering from an inner ligament injury in his knee.

All other players whose commitment was still a question mark took part in the training. These include Konrad Laimer, Dayot Upamecano, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané.

Kim for de Ligt?

“I don’t know 100 percent myself. The final checks are about to begin with Konrad Laimer, Matthijs de Ligt and Dayot Upamecano. My latest opinion on Konny (Laimer; editor’s note) is that he wants to try training. We also have to look at Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané,” Tuchel said at the press conference at midday.

Min-jae Kim is likely to step in for de Ligt if he is actually canceled on Tuesday.

Serge Gnabry returns to the squad after his torn muscle fiber and he also trained with the team. The national player will score, said Tuchel: “It will happen, I’ll tell you. I don’t know how I know, but it’s going to happen.”
