Jay Idzes said that he couldn’t wait to make his debut with the Indonesian national team. The player who plays for the Serie B club, Venezia, is currently ready to defend Indonesia.

Jay Idzes officially has an Indonesian passport since December 28 2023. Jay took the oath of allegiance to citizenship at the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kanwil Kemenkumham) DKI Jakarta.

The process of moving Jay Idzes’ federation from KNVB (Netherlands) to PSSI (Indonesia) has also been completed since last February. Because of that, Jay just had to make his debut for the Indonesian national team.

Jay Idzes has the opportunity to make his first appearance for the Red-White team in the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Group F Asian Zone match against Vietnam. The Indonesian national team will face The Golden Star Warriors on March 21 and 26 2024.

What is even more special is that Jay has the opportunity to debut at the Indonesian national team headquarters, namely the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta. SUGBK was the venue chosen by PSSI when the Garuda Squad hosted Vietnam on March 21.

“Of course I feel very proud. This (defending for the Indonesian national team) is a great honor for me and my family,” said Jay Idzes.

“I’m very excited and can’t wait to meet (colleagues in) the team. This is something I’ve been thinking about and talking about for a long time. So this is very special,” he added.

Jay Idzes is one of the 28 players called by Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong to prepare for facing Vietnam. Apart from Jay, there were several new faces who received calls, namely Nathan Tjoe-A-On, Thom Haye and Ragnar Oratmangoen.

The players are scheduled to gather in Jakarta starting March 17. Before that, for Jay Idzes, he still has to play the Italian Serie B match against Palermo at Renzo Barbera, Saturday (16/3).
