Quadrifinalist in the last edition, the Brazilian won comeback in her debut against the Chinese Xinyu Wang, number 42 in the world rankings. The score was 2-1, with scores of 4-6, 6-3 and 6-4, in 2h15 of play.
Beatriz Haddad is currently number 13 in the WTA rankings, which is why she started her journey in Rome in the main draw of the tournament. Her opponent, Xinyu Wang, also made her tournament debut this Thursday. The two had faced each other four times before today’s duel. Bia won the first three matches, but lost to the Chinese in the last match, on the hard court of the WTA 1000 in Doha.
