The Biden administration has announced that it will lift the limits on access to health treatment for transgender and gay people, restrictions that were introduced under Donald Trump’s presidency.
The Department of Health also reiterated that measures will be taken to ban any kind of discrimination related to sexual orientation and gender identity. The decision comes after Trump removed the law from Obamacare that prohibited health care workers from the right to deny care to transgender or gay patients.
“The fear of being discriminated against – explained the Secretary of Health Xavier Becerra – can lead people to not be treated, with serious consequences for their health“.
