February 22, 202406:25

During an electoral event the US president comments on the “threats of nuclear conflict” and returns to the Navalny case. Moscow: “Embarrassing words for the USA. Think of your son Hunter”

Joe Biden insults Vladimir Putin during a fundraiser for his election campaign and the Kremlin replies: “Embarrassing words for the United States.” US president calls Russian leader a “crazy son of a p…” as he addresses crowd in California. He accuses him of Navalny’s death and indicates it as one threat because because of him “we have to worry about nuclear conflict”. Moscow calls such statements “shameful”. And the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, writes on Telegram that Biden’s words towards Putin “Americans associate them better with her own son, Hunter Biden“, with reference to the legal proceedings involving the latter. And finally comes the sarcastic reply from Putin himself: “Biden is preferable to Trump”.

Biden: “Putin is crazy” “We are dealing with crazy sons of… – says Biden in San Francisco -, like this Putin and others, and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is the climate”.

Biden, Putin and Navalny As recalled by the US press, Biden had previously blamed the death of Alexei Navanly in a Russian penitentiary on Putin. The US president also points the finger at his predecessor and main political opponent Donald Trump, for having avoided mentioning the Russian president when commenting on the dissident’s death, preferring instead to refer to his judicial problems. “If I had said the same things 10 or 15 years ago, you all would have thought I should be interned.”

Putin: “I was right, I prefer Biden to Trump” Vladimir Putin responds sarcastically to Joe Biden’s insult. “I said that for us Biden is preferable as president (than Trump), and judging by what he has now said, I am absolutely right”, said the Russian president, quoted by Tass. “Of course, he added, he couldn’t have said to me ‘Volodya, you’re good, thank you, you help me a lot'”.

The Kremlin: “Embarrassing words for the USA” Words that are defined by the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, as “shameful and embarrassing for the United States“. “The crude statements coming from the mouth of the American leader – continues Peskov in an interview with television journalist Pave Zarubin, reported by Russian agencies – can hardly be harmful to Putin. Biden is demonstrating Hollywood cowboy-style behavior. He would like to offend Putin, but I don’t think it’s possible.”

And again: “As press secretary of the Russian president, I can say that such shameful statements by the US president are unlikely to harm the head of another state in any way, especially President Putin.”
