“We played well today. We started well, then nervousness, two or three corners. I think we played great against the leaders of the table, against players who really know how to play, against a coach who is experienced, this is not his first time to be champion. I don’t know right now after the game, but I think we deserved to win. We did not play against the weakest team, but against a good team. It is important to me that we tried to play today because Borac is also a team that wants to play, it was a rally. This time we are better, I don’t know, next time maybe penalties will decide or something…“

The fighter entered the match well, threatened in the early stages of the match, but when he failed to score then, the penalty and defeat arrived.
“I think we opened the game well and had two chances that we didn’t take. After that, Zrinjski took possession, they got that lead. At halftime, we agreed to start more offensively, but the second goal came right at the beginning. We tried to make changes, I think this goal we scored late on. Let’s move on, get ready for what awaits us because we don’t have much time. On Wednesday is the Cup, on Saturday the championship (Velež, op.a.), we have to go back and prepare for those games“, said Borca strategist Vinko Marinović at the end of the match.
One got the impression that the weakest link of Borc in this duel was the midfield, which, at the end of the match, seemed to “run away from the responsibility” of organizing the attack.
“We have to look at the game, but when the opponent takes the ball away from you and you can’t play, then of course there are always problems in building the attack, and that was the case today in the game. We couldn’t get quality possession in order to threaten Zrinjski more and bring them down. They had that possession and dominated, we were not aggressive enough in the defensive phase, so we left them a lot of space, which they expertly usedMarinović concluded.
In the next round, Borac will visit Velež, while Zrinjski will clash with Zvijezda 09 in front of the home crowd.
Before that, the first match of the BiH Cup semi-finals awaits both of them – on Wednesday, Borac will play Široki Brijeg in the Čitluk Bars, while Zrinjski will host Sloga Meridian in Modriča.
