(Bayern Munich – Borussia Dortmund 0–2) The Norwegian national team defender was the hero for Dortmund in “Der Klassiker”.
Saturday 30 March at 20:40
The Norwegian’s goal came after 82 minutes and determined the result for the visitors in yellow.
– A fantastic feeling. It tastes extra good to do it on their own home ground, says Ryerson in an interview shown on Viaplay.
Sebastien Haller played the ball out to Ryerson, who with a great finish sent it into the far corner. The 26-year-old has four wins in the series this season.
The last time Dortmund beat Bayern away from home was in a cup match in April 2017. You have to go all the way back to 2014 to find the last time it happened in the league.
Leverkusen steers towards league gold in the Bundesliga. On Saturday, they got a 13-point gap at the top of the table after Dortmund won in Munich, and they did the job themselves against Hoffenheim.
Ryerson and Dortmund are fighting to be among the top four who get championship games. With a strong away win on Saturday, they hold the all-important fourth place, three points behind RB Leipzig. Stuttgart are three points ahead of Dortmund, but have one game less played.
Dortmund took the lead through Karim Adeyemi after ten minutes of play. Julian Brandt found Adeyemi inside the box, where he put the ball into the goal via the hands of Bayern goalkeeper Sven Ulreich.
Goalkeeper criticism
First goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is currently sidelined with an injury. Viaplay commentator Eivind Bisgaard Sundet believes that it may have cost the hosts the late goal.
– Manuel Neuer had quickly taken it there. He will keep it out, Ulreich, said Sundet.
Bayern created more chances and on the brink Harry Kane thought he had reduced the lead, but the goal was disallowed for offside. The Englishman has scored a total of 31 league goals this season.
The veteran Mats Hummels (35) was very solid in the Dortmund defense and averted several great scoring chances.
Bavaria’s hegemony is about to fall
Ryerson played the entire match at Dortmund’s right back. The 26-year-old has been on the field in 24 games this season.
Leverkusen are chasing their first ever league title. Bayern have won eleven league championships in a row, but have struggled greatly this season.
This has led to Thomas Tuchel losing his job as coach at the end of the season. It is not clear who will lead the German big team further.
