The devastating return of Nudist con “Clairvoyance” (Sonido Muchacho, 24) – candidate for the group’s best album in a catalog full of essentials – now arrives in theaters, embodied in a type of seamless concert that certifies that live performance is, in reality, the natural habitat of the quartet. The first two dates of this tour, which seems triumphant, resulted in sold out, first in Oviedo and, last Saturday night, in a usually tough place like Valladolid. But it turns out that Nudist They are so good that they were able to put on a very powerful concert in a difficult room, drawing oil from specificities that made it fit with the suffocating nature of their music.
An evening shamelessly supported by that unbeatable mix of post-punk e indie-rock that, in front of a packed venue, they developed sobriety with as much intensity as it was non-negotiable. It also happens that, just a few weeks after their publication, the enormous recent songs included in “Clairvoyance” They already look like hymns, (almost) at the level of classics in the repertoire, in what in practice means an uninterrupted sequence of emotion, electricity and nerve.
This is how recent pieces as incontestable as “Albino bison”, “Elvira / Wild Sanctuary”, “The witch” o “Solitude / Clairvoyance” They fit effortlessly with classics of the type of “It’s been fun”, “A thousand mirrors” o “Modern doses” (with that overwhelming final development). A maneuver completed thanks to the apotheosis of “The son of God” –con Leo Mateos singing among the public hidden under his hood and increasing that type of danger inherent to the narrative and executive force of the people of Madrid–, “I promise to hurt you” y “The devil was good to me”.
An hour and a quarter taken over by a combo that was insultingly well-oiled and coordinated on stage, perhaps enraged by adversity and with Mateos leading the assault while singing, with more nuances than ever, those dark stories that only sometimes They let in some light. Nudozurdo were one of the essential groups on the state scene and, in the present return, they seem to be reaping those unprecedented levels of recognition that, due to quality, they always deserved. We are fortunate to once again have a group with such peculiarities, now protected by a certain aura of a cult band that, at this point, is unquestionable.
