Difficult hours for Bruce Springsteen who is mourning his beloved mother, Adele Zerilli. The woman was 98 years old and originally from Vico Equense, in the province of Naples. Zerilli was married to Douglas Frederick Springsteen (died 1998) with whom he had 3 children, in addition to Bruce, Virginia and Pamela. The sad news of his death, which occurred on January 31st, was announced by the artist himself on Instagram, posting a video in which dance with your mother to the swing notes of “In the Mood” by Glenn Miller. The causes of death are shrouded in the utmost secrecy, but the singer-songwriter revealed in 2021 that his mother had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for over ten years.

In the post Springsteen then put an excerpt from the lyrics of his song “The Wish“, dedicated to her: “I remember that in the morning I heard your alarm clock go off. I would lie in bed and listen to you getting ready for work, the sound of your makeup case on the sink.” And finally: “We’ll find a little rock ‘n roll bar, hang out and dance.”.

Mrs. Zerilli has always been at her son’s side for years as a legal secretary and “dance friend” at concerts. It is no coincidence that in 2016 the images of the Boss’ dance with the 90 year old mother to the tune of “Ramrod, at Madison Square Garden in New York, went viral, triggering emotion and affection from fans.
