BYD shows new cars, platforms and brands(!)

Obviously, the big plan of BYD is to feed as many cars as possible onto the European market, and they are not content with just the BYD brand. To build dream cars for absolutely everyone, they expand with several sub-brands, and to actually manage to build all these new cars, they even have new platform solutions.

So yes, new cars, new brands and even new platform. Visitors to this year’s Geneva Motor Show will get to experience what all this means, because BYD is bringing all the European news to the fair, which is only weeks away. But we don’t have to wait that long, because we already know a little of what this major investment includes. Platforms are thus the melting pot for new cars, and BYD has a new one in the works. This is an e-platform combined with something with the convoluted designation DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System. BYD’s e-platform is, according to the manufacturer itself, the world‘s first mass-produced 4-motor independent drive technology platform, designed to offer leading safety and performance. Here’s what it looks like: BYD says that compared to conventional fuel vehicles, this one allows for controlling the dynamics of all four wheels through 4-motor independent vector control. This enables the car to quickly sense what is going on, provide precise recognition and lead to robust control functions. One of the new cars to be shown, the Yangwang U8, can thus use differential steering. So what the heck is that? Yes, it means that, for example, the left and right wheels spin in opposite directions, so yes, with such technology, a car can turn around. So what is Yangwang U8? Well, Yangwang is a slightly more luxurious sub-brand of BYD, and this is now finding its way to Europe. This brand will offer BYD’s latest and most impressive technology, and turning the five-year-old shows a bit of this. We are excited to see what Yangwang U8 will offer. Here’s what the car looks like: BYD also has another slightly more unknown brand at the car show, Denza. This brand was founded in 2010 together with Mercedes, yep, and thus also offers luxury cars. They will arrive in Switzerland with a model called D9, and this is a multi-purpose vehicle. This is how it looks: But that’s not all. The new Denza N7 also appears, and this is a sporty all-electric crossover SUV. We must of course also check out this exciting car: the BYD brand itself will also be showing news at the fair. For the first time, they will show cars with something they have called Super DM technology, and this is aimed at plug-in hybrids. The car that will pave the way for this is the BYD Seal U DM-i, i.e. a rechargeable hybrid version of the BYD Seal U electric car. They will also show a refreshed version of the Tang 7 seats, and this also includes a renewed styling on the outside. Here is the updated version: In addition, we expect BYD to take with it cars that are already in place in the European market, and there are starting to be quite a few of them. More precisely six electric models. BYD Atto 3, a C-segment SUV, BYD Han, an E-segment sedan, the aforementioned Tang in the E-segment, BYD Dolphin (C-segment hatchback), BYD Seal (D-segment sedan) and BYD Seal U, a D -segment SUV. So yes, things are really getting away with BYD at the moment.
