Cagliari had a pretty bad time on the afternoon of this Monday, April 29, during their visit to Genoa for matchday 34 of Italian Serie A. The team that has Gianluca Lapadula in its ranks could do little or nothing to avoid a resounding 3-0 win in the rival field.
The home team showed superiority from start to finish at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium. In fact, it didn’t take long for them to take the lead on the scoreboard. Morten Thorsby was responsible for breaking the goalless tie at 17′ and 10 minutes later, Morten Frendrup stretched the lead to two.
The scoreboard did not move again in the first half and Cagliari coach, Claudio Ranieri, decided to make some important moves in his scheme to seek an equalizer in the second half. One of the decisions he had was the entry of Gianluca Lapadula for his partner Gaetano Oristanio.
The Peruvian striker played the entire complement, but couldn’t do much to help his team. Albert Guðmundsson sealed Genoa’s victory with a great goal in the 63rd minute and, with that, Cagliari was left empty-handed.
After these three points, the local team remains in 12th place in the Italian league with 42 points, while the Lapadula club remains in 14th place with 32 points.
