Once again, art is present in issue 36 of CASACOR Sao Paulo. Curated by Cézar Prestes from Rio Grande do Sul, Galeria Origami brings the public the opportunity to get closer to national artists, such as Iberê Camargo, Amílcar de Castro, Tomie Ohtake, Rubem Valentim and Glauco Rodrigues.

“There is no right way to interpret what you see, nor an order for what you feel in that space”, says Cézar. “Many times, the public expects the artist to explain how to interpret the work, when in fact the goal is freedom, after all, how do YOU feel?”.

The project is signed by Gabriel de Lucca, architect at the head of the GDL Arquitetura office. With 192m², the gallery has a predominance of wood and concrete in perfect dialogue with the building.

The architectural journey begins in a wide linear corridor parallel to a labyrinth, which distributes and organizes the paths of the entire exhibition area without necessarily dictating its exploration.

The staircase is one of the highlights of the space. Its shape alludes to the Tsuru (sacred bird and one of the most traditional origami in Japanese culture) and the constructive element invites the visitor to discover a lookout that allows an unobstructed view of what happens in its surroundings. In a balanced way, the architectural envelope stands out among the works and pieces that emphasize and value design and national art.

Each section of the project was designed to obtain a different visual condition, exploring fullness and voids, allowing the perception of walking within a frame.

All works by the aforementioned artists will be on sale during the exhibition period and part of the sales will be donated to Instituto Tomie Ohtake and Instituto Rubem Valentim. Those interested can make the purchase and search for more information in the space itself.
