Taking place at the Rocket Mortage FieldHouse, and under the support of a fanatical crowd, the Cleveland Cavaliers achieved an epic victory in the early hours of this Wednesday, defeating the favorite Boston Celtics 105 to 104, in an epic turnaround in the NBA. As a bonus, coach Joe Mazzulla’s team also had a streak of eleven consecutive victories interrupted.
In a duel guided by emotion until the end, the match started with dominance from the visitors. Led by Jayson Tatum, who scored 26 points and also grabbed 13 rebounds, the Celtics had a 16-point lead until the third quarter. In the final part, however, the game had an unexpected outcome.
The protagonist for the turnaround of the score has a first and last name: Dean Wade. The power forward converted five three-pointers and put Cleveland ahead on the scoreboard with just over two minutes remaining.
The Celtics did not give up, they took the lead again but, with 19 seconds left, and with a tap, Wade defined the triumph: 105 to 104. Of the 23 points he scored in the match, 20 were scored in the fourth quarter.
“I have good hands. That was simply incredible. Very cool. Our team proved that it has the determination and also the quality to seek a reaction like that against a team like the Celtics”, said the highlight of the game.
Jarret Allen, Wade’s teammate on the Cavaliers, also shone in the match by scoring a “double-double”: 21 points and 12 rebounds. However, he surrendered to his companion’s beautiful journey. “Wade was simply decisive. And when the fans supported us in the last period, we knew victory was possible,” he commented.
In a round with nine games, the Phoenix Suns achieved an important result away from home by beating the Denver Nuggets 117 to 107. The duel, which was decided in extra time, featured a surgical Kevin Durant at the end: he scored eight of his goals. 35 points in the duel.
Efficient in shooting, Durant also made a difference in the paint. He grabbed eight rebounds and contributed five assists. “The team proved to be emotionally on top of things and we managed to do well in extra time.”
For the Nuggets, Jamal Muray tried hard, scored 28 points, but was unable to avoid the setback in front of his fans. “It was a great match, but we weren’t decisive in the end and the game ended up going into extra time. They were more efficient there,” he commented.
In another game in the NBA round, the Dallas Mavericks even had a very inspired Luka Doncic on the court. Despite his individual brilliance, however, the Slovenian player was unable to lead his team to victory in the duel with the Indiana Pacers, who won the match 137 to 120.
Doncic scored his fourth triple-double in a row by scoring 39 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and making 11 assists. Supported by a collective performance, however, the Indiana Pacers managed to face the home team and obtained an important result.
