The Minas Gerais Military Fire Department (CBMMG) participated last Friday morning (3), in the launch of the May Yellow campaign with the theme, in the civic square of the Administrative City of Minas Gerais. In 2024, the movement’s central theme will be the slogan: “Peace in traffic begins with you.”
The event was attended by several federal, state and municipal agencies that work around the clock to prevent and respond to incidents related to traffic accidents in the state.
During the launch, CBMMG was represented by the CBMMG Interinstitutional Coordination Advisory at Sejusp and by the Vehicle Rescue Operational Thematic Group. During the representative’s speech, institutional efforts in preparation actions were mentioned, through the development of logistics, doctrine, teaching and training in vehicle rescue and pre-hospital care within the corporation to respond to traffic accidents.
He also highlighted prevention and response: “every year, our garrisons have responded to a worrying number of accidents with deaths and injured victims. They are imprisoned victims, trapped in hardware, seriously injured, which demands an agile and efficient response. However, when our teams need to act it is because, in some way, prevention has already failed.” In this sense, it is essential to act in a network and in a preventive manner, raising awareness among everyone about the risks of traffic accidents, in order to avoid them in favor of protecting and valuing life.
Traditionally, CBMMG supports the initiative, reinforcing the accident prevention measures that are already part of the institutional scope throughout the year, with simulations, public awareness actions about the risks involved in traffic accidents and for a responsible and self-protective behavior behind the wheel.
Yellow May
Yellow May is an international awareness movement to reduce traffic accidents. It aims to highlight the issue of traffic safety, in addition to mobilizing society to disseminate knowledge and actions that guarantee this safety.
The color yellow was chosen to symbolize attention and also warning signs in traffic. The bow represents that traffic accidents are also considered an epidemic and follows the same guidelines as the awareness campaigns against the HIV virus, the fight against breast cancer (pink October) and prostate cancer (blue November).
