The Plenary of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) meets, this Tuesday (7), to elect, by secret vote, the next president and vice-president of the Court. The session will be led by the current president of the Court, Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from 7pm.

The Board then begins to judge the processes set out in the agenda of the administrative and jurisdictional sessions. In the first, ministers must examine the proposal to update the summary and two draft resolutions: one for the implementation of the electoral judge’s guarantees in the Electoral Court (JE) and another that provides for changes in the description and specification of effective positions in judicial careers within the scope of JE.

In the jurisdictional session, the Court must judge three appeals involving alleged fraud regarding the gender quota, in the 2020 Elections, in the cities of Belém (PA), Bragança (PA) and Granjeiro (CE). The Plenary must still analyze an appeal against the decision that disapproved the campaign accounting of federal deputy Josivaldo dos Santos Melo, elected by the state of Maranhão, due to irregularities in personnel expenses in the 2022 Elections.

Furthermore, ministers must judge an appeal against a decision that rejected allegations of abuse of economic power, allegedly committed by the mayor and vice-mayor, elected from the city of Itambé do Mato Dentro (MG), as well as by other candidates, in the 2020 Elections. .

The action involves abuse of economic power by allegedly offering money, public office and other benefits for the withdrawal of a candidate for the position of councilor from an opposing party. The case was withdrawn from the trial session electronically following a request for prominence made by Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

Regimental Appeal in Special Electoral Appeal 0602009-29.2022.6.10.0000

Appeal regarding the campaign accounting of federal deputy Josivaldo dos Santos Melo, elected by the state of Maranhão. The accounts were disapproved due to irregularities in personnel expenses in the 2022 Elections. As a result, R$469,000 was ordered to be refunded to the National Treasury. The parliamentarian requires approval of the accounts, albeit with reservations, in order to reduce to R$122,000 the value of the refund relating to expenses on activism. The case was removed from the electronic trial session due to a prominent request presented by Minister Floriano de Azevedo Marques.

In the action , it is alleged that the association launched two fictitious candidates without the real purpose of inserting women into the party political scene. The trial was interrupted due to a request for a review presented by Minister Floriano de Azevedo Marques.
