Chelsea almost scored a goal seven minutes later. Cole Palmer intercepted the opponent’s passing ball and faced Emiliano Martinez. Palmer’s low shot was thwarted by the Aston Villa goalkeeper.

Chelsea got another golden opportunity. This time Palmer sent the ball in front of the Villa goal and it was struck by Noni Madueke. Martinez made a brilliant save to thwart the attempt.

The score 0-0 was the result of the first half. Aston Villa started playing pressing into the second half.

The visitors almost broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute. Matty Cash’s low shot on target was pushed out by Djordje Petrovic.

Both teams were unable to score a goal until the final whistle sounded. The match ended goalless and the two teams will play a replay match at Villa Park.
