Jakarta (ANTARA) – The South Korean drama series “Chief Detective 1958” from the MBC television channel managed to set a record with the highest number of views for its first episode on Friday (19/4) evening South Korean time.
Reporting from Soompi, Saturday, according to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of this new drama scored an average national rating of 10.1 percent. This made “Chief Detective 1958” the most-watched television program of any kind aired on Friday.
In addition, the series “Chief Detective 1958” made history for MBC by achieving the highest premiere ratings of any Friday-Saturday drama broadcast on the television channel.

On the other hand, there is the series “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” which managed to increase its national broadcast rating by 3.3 percent. In fact, the series competed closely with “Chief Detective 1958” because it was broadcast in the same time slot.
The series “Chief Detective 1958” stars a number of talented stars from South Korea, including Lee Je-hoon and Lee Dong-hwi. This series has been broadcast since Friday (19/4) at 21:50 South Korean time.
Interestingly, this series is a new prequel to the classic Korean series entitled “Chief Inspector” which ran for 18 years, namely from 1971 to 1989 and reached a peak viewing rating of 70 percent during its heyday.
In the original show, “Chief Inspector” was set in the 1970s and 1980s. However, the series “Chief Detective 1958” is set in an older story than before, namely 1958.
