China Calls for “Large-Scale” Peace Conference on Gaza Conflict

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has called for a “large-scale” peace conference to address the conflict in the Gaza Strip, urging for the introduction of a ‘road map’ that leads towards a two-state solution. The goal of the conference is to put an end to the Israeli Army’s attacks in the area and support the resumption of peace talks between Israel and Palestine.

During a press conference after meeting with the Egyptian Foreign Minister Samé Shukri, Wang Yi highlighted the need for an effective international conference to address the escalating conflict in Gaza. He expressed concerns about the humanitarian disaster caused by the conflict and emphasized the urgency of finding a resolution.

Wang Yi also stressed the importance of addressing the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure and the impact on innocent civilians, urging the international community to listen to the legitimate concerns of countries in the region. He called for the future governance of Gaza to be an important step towards the two-state solution.

The conflict in Gaza has resulted in a significant loss of life, with Palestinians being the primary victims. The toll of Palestinians killed as a result of the offensive by the Israeli Army has risen to 24,100, with millions of people struggling to survive in the devastated region. The situation has raised concerns about the potential negative effects of the conflict on the regional level.

The Israeli Army launched its offensive in response to attacks by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which resulted in a significant number of casualties. The ongoing violence has also led to deaths in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Wang Yi’s call for a peace conference reflects the growing international concern over the situation in Gaza and the need for a comprehensive and peaceful resolution.
