China: Pelosi calls for boycott of Beijing 2022 Olympics

The speaker of the US House, Nancy Pelosi, has called for the United States and other countries that have condemned the Chinese persecution of the Uighur minority to boycott the Winter Olympics scheduled in China next year.

The motivation is Beijing’s violations of human rights, and in particular the persecution of the Uyghur minority; according to Pelosi, the leaders who will participate in the Olympic ceremonies risk “losing their moral authority”.
