On Sunday, Last Generation activists protested at the Rechberg race. Shortly before the start of the “Great Mountain Prix of Austria”, five people entered the track and sat on the asphalt wearing high-visibility vests.

Police and other emergency services quickly arrived to bring the situation under control. The protest led to a postponement of the start of the race, in which 270 vehicles wanted to take part. “We have a little interruption here and then it’s gone again. Bye with Ü,” was the comment from the race moderator about the incident.

“Can’t sit idly by”
Press spokeswoman Anna Freund (23) makes it clear that the protest is not about rejecting cars. “We respect everyone’s leisure activities. But we cannot stand idly by and let life go on as usual while the federal government drives our future to the wall. We must draw attention to this dangerous failure – also at the Rechberg race. Our protest will continue until climate protection is in the constitution.”
