COPENHAGEN IN RED, WHITE AND BLUE

At Tivoli in Copenhagen, our southern neighbors embrace the national day with a whole program in red, white and blue colours.

The Friday rock guests can experience a tightly packed Norwegian programme, which includes, among other things, the two Norwegian artists Thomas Dybdahl and the soul star Behariewho play on the Lawn at 10 p.m.

«On 17 May, both I and Thomas Dybdahl will come to town, and play in Tivoli for Fredagsrock. I think it will be a very pleasant evening. It is 17 May, i.e. on Norway’s national day, so it will be an evening about Norway. I will bring my band, Thomas Dybdahl will bring his band, and maybe we will play some songs together. Come and listen. I think it will be a very festive evening. I hope to see you», says Beharie in a press release.

Grammy-nominated Norwegian Thomas Dybdahl has been releasing music since 2000 and has hits such as “Days Aren’t Long Enough”, “This Love is Here To Stay” and “One Day You’ll Dance For Me, New York City” behind him when he plays for Fredagsrock in Tivoli on Norway’s national day. Thomas Dybdahl received four out of six stars for his latest album by GAFFA’s reviewers.

At the main entrance at 4.15pm, Tivoli Gardens’ drum corps, together with over 150 Norwegian children and adults, will parade through Hagen, and Rasmus Klump will bring his very largest Norwegian flag with him on the occasion. The parade ends at Tivoli’s Pergolascene, where the Norwegian ambassador to Denmark, Katja Nordgaard, gives her opening speech.

Tivoli has a tradition of also celebrating other countries’ national days, and Culture Manager at Tivoli Frederik Wiedemann encourages all Norwegians living here and other interested parties to drop by on Friday.

«Again this year, we celebrate Norway’s National Day in Tivoli on 17 May, where we encourage everyone with Norwegian roots or connections to meet in Tivoli to mark this important day for Norway. National Day falls on a Friday this year, so there are Norwegian elements to Fredagsrock that day. In June and July, Tivoli also celebrates the Icelandic, American and French national days for the many people who have a connection or special interest in these countries”.

In addition to a wide range of musical features for both children and adults, you can also taste all the way to Norway when Norwegian Filip August Bendi takes over the kitchen in the Community’s tent in front of Plænen at 5.45pm and 7pm as part of the pre-premiere at the Tivoli Food Festival, which runs from stack 18 to 26 May. The Norwegian is serving a first-come, first-served tasting of a brand new, green dish he has developed on the occasion of Norway’s National Day. The renowned chef won silver in 2023 together with his team in the world-renowned cooking competition Bocuse d’Or 2023. In addition, Filip August Bendi also spent a year in Copenhagen, where as a newly graduated chef he lived out one of his big dreams by working in a restaurant Noma.
