by admin

A company specializing in cryptocurrency transfers reported a record theft, “the largest ever in the industry”, valued by experts at $ 600 million. “Dear hackers (…) we want to contact you and urge you to return the assets you have infringed,” wrote the company, Poly Network, in a letter to hackers posted on Twitter. “The amount of money you have violated is the largest in the history of decentralized finance,” the company continued. “This money comes from tens of thousands of members of the cryptocurrency community.” In all, the theft of tokens from Ethereum, BinanceChain and OxPolygon amounts to around $ 600 million, according to calculations by users such as cybersecurity researcher and Ethereum expert Mudit Gupta. On Twitter, the company posted the addresses used by hackers, and urged holders of cryptocurrency wallets to take them into account. By the end of April, cryptocurrency thefts, hacks and fraud had reached $ 432 million in total, according to CipherTrace. “This figure may seem small compared to past years, but if we look in more detail, we see an alarming trend: hacks in decentralized finance now represent more than 60% of the total volume of thefts” notes the specialized company.
