Cuba, the battle for freedom of expression by Luis Manuel Otero Alcantara: in hospital for hunger strike. Artists rise up

Another protest, another hunger and thirst strike. The artistic and cultural world is once again mobilizing in Cuba asking for freedom of thought and expression. It does so in solidarity with Luís Manuel Otero Alcántara, artist at the head of the Movimiento San Isidro, an opposition collective already protagonist of a battle that culminated last November 27 in front of the Ministry of Culture where 400 artists, teachers, directors and actors staged a sit- in asking for, and getting, a meeting with senior government officials.
