This Wednesday (20), Brasiliense x Cuiabá faced each other in the first duel of the quarter-finals of the Copa Verde 2024. The confrontation was held at the Serejão stadium, at 8 pm (Brasília time). Check out all the details of this game here.
How was the game?
The start of the game was marked by few clear opportunities for both teams. The dispute focused mainly on the midfield, with both teams finding it difficult to break through the opposing defenses. Brasiliense managed to create some danger with medium and long-range shots, while Dourado opened the scoring by converting a penalty.
Cafú received a cross at the first post, got ahead of the marker, dribbled past the goalkeeper and was brought down in the area, resulting in a penalty in favor of Dourado. He took it himself and put his team at an advantage. Brasiliense tried to react, again with attempted submissions from outside the area, but none of them managed to threaten goalkeeper Walter.
In the second stage, both teams made several changes, to also rotate the squad. In the 14th minute, Luciano Giménez is called in with a long throw, controls the ball inside the area, withstands the pressure from the defender and finishes with a touch over the outgoing goalkeeper. The ball still touches the post slightly before entering the goal, extending the ball towards Dourado.
Jacaré even tried to exploit counterattacks after conceding another goal. But the night belonged to Jonathan Cafú. He was aware of the error made by Brasiliense’s defense, recovered the ball and finished with his left leg in the corner, scoring his second goal of the game. The striker also served a beautiful assist to André Luís, turning the score into a rout for Cuiabá.
To finish, Gustavão scores the goal of honor for Brasiliense. Emerson makes a beautiful move from the edge and makes a low cross. The center forward finishes first time, practically inside the small area, scoring Jacaré’s first goal of the match. But it wasn’t enough and the score ended 4 x 1.

Now, Auriverde will pay attention to the state championship, on Sunday they will face Luverdense, at home, at 6:30 pm, with the advantage of a goal to advance to the final of the tournament. On the other hand, Esquadrão Amarelo plays this Thursday (21), the first game of their Candangão semifinal, facing Capital, at 8:30 pm (Brasília time).
It is worth mentioning that Brasiliense has already lifted the Copa Verde cup in 2020. Cuiabá has lifted the regional competition cup twice – 2015 and 2019.
