Cuomo leaves the governor’s house and abandons his dog Captain there

by admin

In the aftermath of the end of his tenure as governor of New York, many were still wondering if Andrew Cuomo would return to office for another role in politics. But the latest background that emerged could definitively compromise his image, already compromised by the accusations of sexual harassment that led to his resignation. The New York media found that the former governor left his official residence, abandoning Captain, the mixed German Shepherd and Siberian dog adopted in 2018.

In these three years, Cuomo had often had himself photographed with his faithful companion, mentioned during press conferences on the pandemic as “psychological support” for the governor. Many photos had appeared on Cuomo’s Instagram account in the company of Captain.

But in light of the latest developments, Cuomo’s appears to have been just a pose. The dog stayed in the mansion, where the governors live. Cuomo, in recent days, had already asked staff members if they wanted to take the dog. One had taken it home for a few days, but then returned it because Captain was too demanding. In the past, the dog had attacked a couple of people. The news of the abandonment, however, has gone viral, arousing disgust and indignation in many New Yorkers, traditionally very dog lovers. Cuomo’s spokesman, Richard Azzopardi, denied the story, explaining that the former governor had sought temporary accommodation for Captain only because he had to go on vacation. But the reporters wondered why Cuomo hadn’t given it to his sister at the time, as he has done in the past. Azzopardi did not provide explanations.
